Worker killed at East Kelowna construction site – Kelowna Capital News

Kelowna RCMP are reporting that a 45-year-old construction worker was killed in an accident involving a dump truck on a worksite at 3985 Fairwinds Court in East Kelowna.

Cont. Kris Clark said at this point the accident isn’t a criminal matter so WorkSafe BC will be handling the investigation.

Alexandra Skinner-Reynolds, spokesperson for WorkSafe BC, said two WorkSafe investigators and the coroner will be on scene to handle the initial investigation.


Crane collapse: At least 1 dead and 3 seriously injured at National Art Gallery site

At least one construction worker has been killed and another three seriously injured after an accident on Monday morning at the worksite for the future National Art Gallery Singapore on Coleman Street.

According to workers, concrete slabs forming the counterbalance weight for one of the tower cranes fell at about 10.50am, partially crushing scaffolding within the worksite. The site’s main contractor is Takenaka.


Construction worker killed near Indianola – Houston Chronicle

INDIANOLA, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa State Patrol says a construction worker was killed on Highway 65 south of Indianola when he was struck by a truck.

Authorities say the worker, who wasn’t identified Thursday, was hit Thursday afternoon by a tractor-trailer rig in a construction zone north of the community of Liberty Center.


Karen construction worker killed after falling six floors while working overtime at night – Chaing Mai

A Karen migrant worker died after falling from the sixth floor of Chiang Mai construction site on Monday, September 16.

The dead worker was identified as 20-year-old, Saw Ye Tun Naing, who came to work in Chaing Mai from the Delta region of Burma.

Saw Than Hlaing , a fellow migrant worker, told Karen News that Saw Ye Tun Naing fell from the 6th floor of the building while working overtime at night.

Two injured after balcony collapse – TODAY’S TMJ4

MILWAUKEE – Two people have been injured after a balcony collapse on Milwaukee’s south side Thursday, police said.
It happened just after 4:00 p.m. Thursday near South 24th Street and West National Avenue. The series of balconies that covers the back of the four-story building collapsed while a construction worker was working on it.
Eyewitnesses tell TODAY’S TMJ4 the worker fell through all four layers of the balcony, and that a young girl was injured as well while taking out the trash.

Wrongful Death Suit Filed After Worker Killed At Apartment Site | 5NEWSOnline.com

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed in the death of a 20-year-old construction worker who was killed earlier this year while working at The Vue Apartments in Fayetteville.
The lawsuit, filed by Bailey and Oliver Law Firm in Rogers, seeks damages from Business Construction Services LLC, of Houston, Texas, for the family of Brannon Rhine, whose fiancée gave birth to the couple’s child shortly after his death.

Construction Worker Dies After Being Pinned Under Equipment « CBS Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) – A 48-year-old construction worker has died after being pinned and trapped under a piece of large equipment in Englewood, authorities say.

The accident happened Thursday afternoon in the 6200 block of South May in the Englewood, where repaving work has been going on.

A construction worker died when a portion of a building that was being demolished collapsed in Madiwala on Saturday.

Mani (30) was demolishing an old four-storey building since the beginning of this week. On Saturday, he was at work on the third floor when a wall collapsed on him. He was rushed to a private hospital but was declared brought dead. The Madiwala police registered a case against the building owner and the contractor.

Michael Simermeyer was killed when a frayed cable snapped and caused him to be crushed by a huge tractor crane that collapsed on an MTA project in 2012. The 30-year-old’s parents will receive the tax-free settlement from the insurance company of Yonkers Contracting, who was issued 10 violations and $68,000 in fines over the incident.


1, killed, 1 injured in New Prague construction hole fall – KMSP-TV


A construction worker on a power line project north of New Prague was killed and another was injured Wednesday morning after the two plummeted into a 50-foot hole, Scott County Sheriff Kevin Studnicka confirmed.

The New Prague Times said the workers were from the CapX 2020 power line project along County Road 2 between Highway 21 and Drexel Avenue north of New Prague.
