Hotel bosses could be prosecuted after a newlywed groom plunged through a banister on his wedding night, suffering horrific injuries.

Chris Mallon married wife Avril just hours before he plunged 12ft onto the pavement after the fall, at the Macdonald Houstoun House in Uphall , West Lothian on June 14.

His devastated wife kept a bedside vigil at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh , after Mr Mallon was put in an induced coma.
