Footballer ‘scrunched up’ health and safety notice ordering his building firm to stop work – North Wales Live

A semi professional footballer narrowly avoided jail after two men at his building firm worked on a two-storey roof without any safety equipment.

Mold Crown Court was told how Leonard Hamilton, known as ‘Asa’, scrunched up a Health and Safety Executive notice that ordered work to stop.

And forty minutes later the pair were back on the roof of a semi-detached house in Talbot Street, Wrexham, with no scaffolding or protective equipment and work then continued for two days.

When court papers were served on Hamilton at a football event, he was seen to put them in a bin.

Former Airbus FC and Buckley Town FC player Hamilton, 27, of Linfield Avenue, Buckley, yesterday admitted three health and safety charges including breaching working at heights regulations and failing to comply with the prohibition notice.
