A family man was crushed to death by his friend in an ‘entirely avoidable’ accident at the recycling plant where they worked – now the firm has been fined for breaching health and safety regulations.

Father-of-three George Richardson, 56, left home to complete a shift as a labourer at the site where he had worked for 10 years and never returned.

He was going about his work at the Sanders Waste and Plant Management site in Pegswood, near Morpeth, when he tragically lost his life.
