These workers had some welding to do on railings
near the shores edge of the Nile.
There was no wall plug for the welder, so they bared the cable,
so the un-insulated ends could be hung over the un-insulated
mains cables on the poles in the street.
The photo shows the worker with a pole with a slit in it
positioning the cables, although the camera phone photo does not
show the sparks it created when connected.
No long after the connection was made, the cable which was
laying across the street was run over by a horse and carriage
and was cut into several pieces – no problem, the cables where
woven together and insulated with paper towels.
Later in the day the angle grinder was hooked up in the same way
– it’s a good job the welder used sunglasses to do the welding!
