Fortunately this extension lead in a vehicle workshop was
discovered before it did any damage.

Foil used around the fuse, note the foil and wires are clean so it
was concluded that it had been done recently,
although no body admitted to doing this modification - wonder why?

The reason for the 'modification' was most probably because the lead
never worked.
The fuse connection in the socket end was the most likely reason for
not working due to corrosion from use in wet conditions.
